Artist Statement
Process, chance and intuition are the vehicles that guide creating my work.
The work process involves layering of spontaneous and intentional applications working against each other and implementing chance to form the composition on the flat surface. Relying on intuition, provides the freedom to consider the accidental during this process allowing the work to mature. Although materials are the same, each series of works varies in their final expression.
In the last twenty years , the focus has been on using paint and aluminum to produce work. I am drawn to the aluminum's illuminate qualities and the surface's physical memory. Each material is equally important in creating a visual balance and mystery.
